  • Colon cancer is one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers in Manitoba.
  • You are at higher risk for colon cancer if you are age 50 and over.
  • There are no early warning symptoms of colon cancer.

To lower your risk of colon cancer:

  1. Live a healthy lifestyle

Eat foods high in fibre.
Image
Get regular physical activity.
Image
Limit the amount of alcohol you drink.
Image
Be smoke-free.
Image
Limit the amount of red meat and processed meat you eat.
  1. Get Checked with a home screening test every 2 years if you are between ages 50-74.
